Ellen Callinan writes the blog "Callinan the Librarian" about balancing life and librarianship.
I've lost track of the number of Computers in Libraries I've attended. It's become my favorite conference - it recharges my brain and creativity each spring. I'm very excited to see the new conference facility in Crystal City, although I'll miss the chance to grab a bite at my favorite spots around Dupont Circle.
As usual, I want to be at several programs simultaneously. On Monday, I plan to attend most of Track C. On Tuesday, I'm aiming at a mix of Tracks B and C, and on Wednesday, I'll probably be in Track D.
In my past lives, I was the manager of research at Crowell & Moring in Washington and the digital development librarian at Georgetown Law, where I built the library's website and intranet. These days, I'm balancing my life as a parent with my love of librarianship as a consultant and trainer. I recently joined Joan Axelroth and Mary Talley at Axelroth & Associates, where I'm building the company's technology and placement services. Since I'm creating tools to support our company's virtual operation, I'll be focusing on learning as much as I can about wikis and other collaborative tools at this year's CIL.
I hope to see lots of old friends at Computers in Libraries. Please drop me at line at ellen@callinan.net if you're around and can meet for lunch.
